VIDEO: Why this El Salvador statue has wooden scaffolding

After spending the morning exploring the crazy Mercado Central, I wanted to see some more of San Salvador and headed to Palacio Nacional de El Salvador (National Palace of El Salvador).

Before I headed inside to take a tour of the building, I had a wander around Plaza Gerardo Barrios and noticed that one of the statues in the square was covered in wooden scaffolding.

During the palace tour, my informative guide told me exactly why the statue was covered and, if you watch this video, you can find out too.

As well as Palacio Nacional, I visited Catedral Metropolitana de San Salvador (San Salvador Cathedral) and took in some live music.

But watch this video to see why this El Salvador statue has wooden scaffolding.
