VIDEO: Going to the Stade de France the week after 2022 UEFA Champions League Final

On 28 May 2022, Real Madrid defeated Liverpool 1-0 to win the Champions League in Paris. But the big occasion in the French capital was marred by troubles outside of the ground, with police unable to provide safe passage for fans as they attempted to enter the stadium.

Kick-off was delayed by almost 40 minutes, and the chaos that ensued pre-game was put down to a combination of poor organisation by the authorities and attempts by locals to attend without a ticket.

The Stade de France is in a neighbourhood of Paris called Saint-Denis – considered to be one of the country’s most dangerous areas – and following reports of pickpocketing, ambushes and assault in and around the stadium on the day of the final, I decided that I needed to go and check it out for myself.

Fortunately, I was in Paris just six days after the event, and me and my Dad were on hand to watch the France national team host Denmark in the UEFA Nations League.

So, watch my experience going to the Stade de France the week after 2022 UEFA Champions League Final to find out just how dangerous Paris’ Saint-Denis really is.
